Senator Mark Warner successfully amended the Senate Republican budget today to encourage the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to more aggressively promote a veterans law clinic model developed at William & Mary’s Puller VA Clinic.
At a Senate Budget Committee hearing, Sen. Warner called for getting rid of the sequester, reducing spending in a more responsible way, strengthening entitlement programs, and considering additional revenues to fix the government’s balance sheet for the long term.
A bipartisan group of senators are pushing back against possible plans to use revenue generated by mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to offset federal spending.
On March 12, with a month left to go in tax season, Senator Warner attended a Senate Finance Committee hearing where he discussed an issue that he has previously called on the IRS to address: tax refund fraud.
