Sen. Mark Warner says the departure of Sen. Tom Coburn from the bipartisan "Gang of Six"--senators who have been working on solutions to the national debt--will not stop the group's work.
U.S. Sen. Mark Warner said Wednesday that the loss of a key conservative senator from the so-called Gang of Six doesn't mean they're giving up on producing a complex plan to cut trillions from the national debt through deep spending cuts, entitlement reforms and changes in taxes.
"This is too important. We've gotta keep at it."

Senator Warner updated Virginia reporters today on his efforts to find a bipartisan solution to the nation's deficit and debts. The effort experienced a bit of a setback on Tuesday when one of the Republican members of the so-called “Gang of Six” announced he was “taking a break” from the bipartisan initiative.

The Virginia Democrat formed the "Gang of Six," a group of three Democratic and three Republican senators crafting a massive plan to cut the $14 trillion national debt and solidify the country's fiscal future.

Senators Webb and Warner applauded the Senate’s unanimous vote today to confirm Judge Michael Urbanski of Roanoke to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Virginia.
The Concord Coalition, a group of former members of Congress known for advocating responsible fiscal policy, says the Gang of Six is the best hope for a bipartisan plan to curb deficits and debt. Senators Warner and Chambliss (R-GA) have been leading the "Gang" efforts since December.
Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner applauded the Senate’s unanimous vote today to confirm Arenda L. Wright Allen of Norfolk to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia. The two Senators recommended Wright Allen’s appointment to the White House in June 2010.
