New generation of VA leaders

We hosted our first Virginia Young Professionals Summit in Richmond this weekend. More than 225 up-and-coming young leaders attended the summit, which was focused on building networks and community involvement among young people.
Senator Warner will join military families at the Pentagon in Arlington on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the deadly Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on Virginia and America.
Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner today announced the inclusion of $27.4 million for the expansion of Craney Island in the Fiscal Year 2012 Energy and Water Appropriations bill. As in previous years, the Senators had asked the Administration and the Appropriations Committee to include funding for Craney Island for the coming fiscal year.
Smart, targeted actions on jobs

Senator Warner released the following statement after the President’s speech about jobs last night: “I think the President issued the right call to action,” Senator Warner said. “There is no single 'silver bullet' solution to this sluggish economic recovery, but we certainly can take smart, targeted actions that will help encourage new jobs and investment."

Last week Senator Warner wrapped up a 3 week roadtrip that included 45 events, visiting 34 communities and traveling more than 1,300 miles across the Commonwealth.

Day three in the Commonwealth began at Common Grounds, a local coffee shop in South Boston. Senator Warner spoke to members of the community about his work on a bipartisan effort to tackle the deficit. The Senator also talked about the resilience and courage of people in South Boston and Southside Virginia.

We visited Manassas, Culpeper, Charlottesville and Goochland on Monday as Senator Warner's August "staycation" continues across Virginia.
The second day of our Southeast Virginia swing started with a meeting with African American faith-based leaders. Senator Warner met with the leaders in Norfolk over coffee to talk about issues affecting the Hampton Roads and how to better serve the community.
