The U.S. Senate today joined the House of Representatives in passing bipartisan legislation that honors the late Phyllis Galanti’s service to America’s military men and women and their families by naming the outdoor arboretum at Richmond’s McGuire VA Medical Center The Phyllis Galanti Memorial Arboretum.

The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved the nominations of Dana J. Boente to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and John P. Fishwick, Jr., to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

The bipartisan legislation includes a number of provisions championed by Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), which will improve school efficiency and expand access to dual and concurrent enrollment programs for high school students.

Sens. Warner and Kaine today announced that 18 Virginia localities will receive more than $1.5 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
