Every day this war continues, you pay the price with higher costs on everything you buy.

Does anyone else feel like you can’t make it through a single day without hearing about artificial intelligence?

Right now, it seems like we’re in the middle of a massive technological revolution…. one that contains real promise for accelerating scientific discovery, boosting our productivity, and just making our lives easier… but also one that contains potentially catastrophic downsides.

Across our Commonwealth, I hear constantly from Virginians who are terrified by the rapid construction of data centers. Others are scared that AI could steal their job or take a wrecking ball to our entire economy. Still others are understandably horrified by the stories of AI chatbots coaxing kids into self-harm.

I hear you. I feel your fear because I’m worried about a lot of the same things.

This moment requires bold, decisive action… not spiraling or crossing our fingers that these problems will work themselves out. In Congress, I am working daily to suggest real solutions and get ahead of some of the biggest threats AI poses, while also leaving room for responsible innovation.

So this week, I unveiled a bold new framework to tackle all four of the biggest buckets I’m thinking about with AI – shaping responsible policy around data centers, protecting jobs, safeguarding our national security, and promoting competition and privacy.

You can read a deep dive on some of the provisions here: https://www.warner.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/FINAL-AI-Framework-Booklet.pdf

This framework builds on the months of work I’ve already done to protect jobs and get ready for some of the economic consequences… as well as raise every alarm about some of the national security implications.

I completely understand Americans’ fears about AI – so I want to meet them with action and hope. We can pass legislation that secures a brighter tech future for our kids and grandkids. I will work tirelessly to get it done, and to ensure that we are ready and able to harness some of the benefits of this technology as well.

I look forward to keeping you updated.
