Senator Warner released the following statement today in response to the U.S. Department of Justice’s proposed settlement with George’s, Inc. In March, the Justice Department filed a federal antitrust lawsuit challenging George’s proposed acquisition of a Tyson Foods facility in Harrisonburg.
“The settlement of this lawsuit is great news for hundreds of poultry producers and workers and very bad news for chickens.”
Senator Warner joined Governor Bob McDonnell, U.S. Sen. Jim Webb and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (VA-06) in a joint letter to DOJ on this issue on May 19.
