WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senators Jim Webb and Mark R. Warner today announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) has released $28 million to support several programs aimed at spurring investment in residential, commercial, and industrial energy efficiency, as well as renewable energy projects. This is the second installment of energy funds made available as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
A portion of the funding will go toward the Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program to provide rebates for eligible homeowners when they replace major systems equipment, such as central air conditioning, insulation, furnaces, windows, lighting upgrades, and programmable thermostats.
“This $28 million funding is an investment in Virginia’s State Energy Program,” said Senator Webb. “The rebates made available to Virginians through these Recovery funds will help bolster our economy and lower future energy costs.”
"This investment will help Virginia families and businesses promote energy efficiency and reduce costs," said Senator Warner. "Over the long term, these projects will help Virginia create new, green economy jobs and reduce our overall dependence on foreign oil."
