WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) released the following statement on the announcement by Care.com that it will offer a peer-to-peer benefits platform that enables families to contribute to a caregiver’s benefits:  

“For the past year, I’ve been urging leaders in the on-demand economy to test a variety of models for providing safety net protections for workers. Innovations like this will help us figure out what works, and what workers want and need. It’s exciting that Care.com is taking this step, and I hope other leaders in the gig economy will look for their own opportunities to provide  more support for workers.”
