Sens. Warner, Kaine Announce Nearly $2 Million for Improvements at Three Va. Airports

DOT grants will provide funding to improve infrastructure, increase safety standards, and meet passenger needs

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced today that airports in Petersburg/Dinwiddie, Front Royal/Warren and Culpeper will receive nearly $2 million in funds from the Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rehabilitate pavement conditions and improve the safety of their facilities.

“This funding will help ensure Virginia airports can meet their increasing infrastructure demands while providing modern facilities for flyers and employees,” said Sen. Warner. “Through these grants, our airports will be able to maintain proper safety standards while delivering the quality service their passengers have come to expect.”

Earlier this week, Sens. Warner and Kaine also announced nearly $12 million in federal funding to airports in Richmond ($4,002,106), Norfolk ($6,212,500), and Emporia/Greensville ($1,430,809).
