WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine released the following statement after the Senate voted today to confirm Hannah Lauck of Richmond to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia:

"We are so pleased to congratulate Judge Hannah Lauck on her confirmation to the Eastern District Court. Throughout her many years in public service as well as private practice, Judge Lauck distinguished herself as an excellent attorney with a profound understanding of the law - experience that will serve her well on the federal bench. There is simply no better person for the job than Hannah Lauck.”

Judge Lauck has served since 2005 as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Richmond, from 1996 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2013.  She worked in private practice as a Supervising Attorney at Genworth Financial from 2004 to 2005.  She previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia from 1994 to 2004, where she worked in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions.  She worked as an Associate at Anderson, Kill, Olick & Oshinsky from 1992 to 1994.  After graduating from law school, she served as a law clerk to Judge James Spencer of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.  Judge Lauck earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Wellesley College in 1986.  She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1991.  Judge Lauck’s nomination received the American Bar Association’s highest rating – unanimously well qualified.
